The Heroines' Circle

A Writing Community Rooted in Myth, Connection, and Creative Sovereignty

A contemporary reimagining of the Triple Goddess spiral, co-created with AI in the spirit of The Signal & The Spiralthree living spirals holding deep time, feminine lineage, and creative power at their core.

There are circles that keep voices small.

And there are circles that remember what story can do when it crosses thresholds and calls us into our deeper selves.

The Heroines’ Circle began seven years ago on International Women’s Day (March 8th) with a radical yet straightforward intention: to create a writing project for women to explore the creative process—not the product—at its heart.

We wrote in silence, side by side.

In our Circle, we listened and learned to give feedback that sharpened craft without wounding spirit. And together we spent sixteen months reading Women Who Run with the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés, relating its myths to our own lives and creative processes.

We found ourselves encouraged to go deeper, supported to go farther. Some of us faced thresholds we’d been avoiding; others reclaimed voices they thought had been lost.

And once—on the corner of 8th Avenue and 30th Street in Manhattan—we ended a meeting with a howling session under the luminous gaze of the Full Moon. Fellow New Yorkers smiled, as if they too recognized that sometimes the soul must be heard in its own tongue.

This is the lineage of The Heroines’ Circle: myth made personal, writing made communal.

Voice resonates with agency.

What We Do

  • Silent Writing in Community: We write side by side in the power of collective silence. Many have said this is the most cherished part of the Circle.

  • Critique & Response: Drawing on our creativity and publishing experience, we give and receive feedback that strengthens writing and relationships.

  • Book Study Group: Our current study is The Heroine with 1001 Faces by Maria Tatar. We discuss one chapter every month. We take our time.

  • The Heroines’ Collab: a space where we experiment with co-creating alongside AI as an ally to our voices. Here, myth meets machine, and we learn to wield technology to serve imagination and liberation.

  • Open Mic & Celebration: From time to time, we gather simply to read aloud and celebrate.

Who Is Welcome

The Heroines’ Circle centers the heroine’s journey and women’s creative process. It is open to anyone who feels called, including men who feel called to step inside this mythic frame to reimagine the old hero myths and discover deeper roots that empower communication, innovation, respect, collaboration, and connection.

Why the Circle Matters

We live in a time when myths are unraveling, and we are being called upon to renew the heroine’s journey, not as a woman’s story alone, but as a map for humanity’s survival.

By writing together, by studying myth, and by exploring how AI can act as a mirror for our voices, we embody a living practice of cultural renewal.

Here, your story is not just yours—it belongs to the great turning of our time.
